Productivity Measurement and Evaluation (IEN 660)

This course provides a non-traditional "total productivity-based approach" to managing the competitiveness of an organization through a formal strategy to plan and improve quality. total productivity, profitability, and other critical dimensions of competitiveness.

Specifically, the course will cover:

  • Misconceptions about production, effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity
  • Partial, total-factor, total productivity. and comprehensive total productivity
  • The "Total Productivity Model" (TPM) and the TP Perspective
  • The Productivity Evaluation Concepts
  • Linkage between total productivity, quality, and profit
  • Short-term and long-term productivity planning concepts
  • The 90+ productivity improvement techniques
  • The Total Productivity Management (TPmgtTM) Philosophy, Concept, and Methodology
  • The human dimension in productivity management--A debate on Layoffs and Downsizing
